Homemade recipe for baked chocolate donuts

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk (or non-dairy milk)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the chocolate glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Spoon the batter into a piping bag or a large zip-top bag with a corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. While the donuts are cooling, prepare the chocolate glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Once the donuts are completely cooled, dip the top of each donut into the chocolate glaze, allowing any excess glaze to drip off.
  10. Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack to set for a few minutes before serving.

Note: You can also add toppings like sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut to the glazed donuts if desired.
