Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk (or non-dairy milk)
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the chocolate glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2-3 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a donut pan with cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Spoon the batter into a piping bag or a large zip-top bag with a corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly touched and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the donuts are cooling, prepare the chocolate glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the donuts are completely cooled, dip the top of each donut into the chocolate glaze, allowing any excess glaze to drip off.
- Place the glazed donuts back on the wire rack to set for a few minutes before serving.
- Enjoy your homemade baked chocolate donuts!
Note: You can also add toppings like sprinkles, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut to the glazed donuts if desired.
